Dynamic packaging creates many winners
February 2007New technology, changing customer needs and more in-depth industry knowledge have paved the way for dynamic packaging, which allows the customer to build up their own package themselves. However, it is not just travellers who are benefiting from dynamic packaging. Suppliers and distributors also have a great deal to gain.
Today’s travel buyers are increasingly experienced travellers, which is fuelling demand for unique trips. Dynamic packaging meets this need and allows travellers to compose their journey themselves. Flights, hotels, car rental and experiences can be freely combined according to the personal requirements of the traveller. What’s more, supplementary services such as airport parking or restaurant tables are often available. Read more…
Travel agents’ special places around the world
February 2007Exciting Scotland, exotic Thailand, beautiful South Africa. Employees at travel agencies are rarely happy just to head for their summer cottage or sit on the local beach. Amadeus Magazine has spoken to four travel agents in Sweden, Norway and Denmark, to find out how often people in the travel industry travel and where they like to go. We’ve also asked them to reveal their very favourite destinations.
All four of the people we spoke to travel abroad about the same number of times, averaging three to four holidays a year. Time of year and distance travelled varies, determined largely by when they can get time off, just like the rest of us. Read more…
The right service for the right customer
February 2007The needs of today’s business travellers are becoming increasingly varied, between companies and within them. Amadeus Magazine has spoken to Carlson Wagonlit Travel to find out how business travel agencies can offer the right type of service to different customers.
Different customers have different requirements of business travel agencies. This has become more and more apparent over the years. Self-booking systems, demands for savings, low-cost players and new travel patterns are just some of the things that have changed business travel today. The job of the business travel agency is to meet each customer’s needs and fulfil the expected demand for service. This in itself is nothing new, but doing it at the right price is becoming the key to ensuring that business travel agencies can maintain a good level of profit. Read more…

Amadeus gains new customers
February 2007Amadeus is continuing to grow, and in the past few months has signed agreements with a host of new customers both in the business and leisure travel segments. We are naturally extremely proud of this fact, and the fact that existing customers are more than happy to stay with us.
For this edition, Amadeus Magazine has spoken to Henrik Boysen at Marine Travel A/S, which specialises in marine and offshore activities. Marine Travel A/S is a new customer in the business travel segment with which Amadeus signed an agreement in December 2006. In the next issue of Amadeus Magazine, we’ll be meeting another new customer in the leisure travel segment.
Mr Boysen explains that the parties enjoyed a good dialogue from the very beginning. The purchase went extremely smoothly and during the many meetings with Amadeus confidence in the sales team grew, culminating in a deal between the parties. Mr Boysen, who has previous experience of Galileo, singles out Amadeus’ profiling services as highly user-friendly and easy to work with.
Mr Boysen thinks that the travel plan and SMS texting functions are particularly useful in the stressful world of the travel agent.
